Small tackets of alum-tawed or tanned skin, parchment or thin cord used to hold down the turn-ins of a limp cover at the corners. They could be laced as simple loops through two holes, the ends twisted and/or knotted together usually on the inside of the cover, or through three or more holes to create patterned lacing.
