still retaining its accuracy, no notice was taken of it by the Government, yet, in 1852, the Government awarded Minié (a Frenchman) £10,000 for a bullet on the same principle as Greener's invention of 1836. The method used was that of a plug driven by the powder gas into the base of the bullet. Mr. Greener considered himself aggrieved by this, and the Government ultimately admitted the justice of his claim and gave him £1,000 in the Army Estimates of 1857.
