    done by ourselves, and as some of the most fashionable London makers, and the most successful at that time at pigeon shooting, sent their guns, we became well aware of the state of barrel boring immediately prior to the introduction of the choke bore. Mr. Greener was one of the makers who sent guns to us on the particular occasion of which we speak. These were sent back to him, and as a result we probably saw the first choke bore he made. This was sent up to us in Scotland, in the autumn following the trials of which we speak, and the difference between its performance at the target and that of any of the guns previously tried was astonishing to all who saw it at that time.
